GRP Panel Tanks

FOUNDATIONS
Sekisui Tank systems are designed, fabricated and engineered in accordance with the standard SS245, (Glass Reinforced Polyester Sectional Water Tanks). The standard requires this form of foundation (Illustrated bellow). Every Tank is required to be supported on a firm base capable of withstanding the weight of the Tank when filled with water to the rim. Every tank must be supported on a ridged platform fully supporting the bottom of the tank over the whole of its area.

Concrete Plinths
Concrete plinths are primarily used to raise the Tank from the ground, this is due to a number of reasons including but not restricted to:

To allow access to the undercarriage of the Tank at any stage of its life

To allow sufficient inspection of the Tank system in accordance with state and       Federal laws and guidelines.

To stop condensation and moisture build up from accumulating under the tank base.

To allow adequate air flow under the Tank Base

To allow any forms of maintenance to be conducted without the need of stripping       down the Panels.

To allow Safe Trays to be effectively installed under some forms of standard      guidelines.

To stop the build up of foreign debris from accumulating under the base of the Tank

Concrete Plinths are designed by structural engineers and fabricated by qualified and reputable concrete fabricators.

Steel Skid Base
Steel Skid Bases are primarily used to support each individual base panel to ensure the weight of the tank is evenly distributed over the foundation area. All panels around the edge are bolted to the steel skid base to ensure no movement of the Tank or panels in the event of Seismic movement and also vibrations that occur in the use of the Tank systems due to filling and draining of the water through the use of high velocity pumps.

The steel skid bases are pre-fabricated to save construction time on-site, and are bolted together to remove the need of having to use welding equipment where fire danger and confined space may become issues.

Steel Skid Bases can be galvanised or epoxy coated to suit the surrounding area.
